CBD Dosages: How Much Should You Use?
People might have heard about the various benefits of CBD, but do they actually know about the right CBD dosage that a person should have? CBD, or Cannabidiol, is one of the many active components found inside a cannabis plant that can have different effects on the human body. CBD may be present in a variety of products we use on a daily basis, whether that is a CBD cream, CBD oil, capsules, or maybe CBD gummies that everyone seems to enjoy. While the explosion of CBD products is great, how does one know what the correct CBD dosage is?
In terms of both ingredients and dosage, the amount of CBD varies in products. Most importantly, there is no exact quantity or dosage of CBD that is safe to treat a particular condition.
More About Cannabidiol, or CBD
CBD the second most common cannabinoid found in the marijuana plant. Unlike THC, the CBD compound found in the plant does not have any psychoactive effects on the human body. Rather, it is used to deal with several health issues and has become quite a popular ingredient in assisting with potential health issues in the last few years.
CBD has certain mental and physical effects on the human body. Today it has become a popular ingredient to help with one’s anxiety, sleep disorders, and some other cognitive disorders.
To determine whether it is right for you or not you need to know about the benefits, side effects, and some other related facts to CBD. This particular article describes every necessary information including the right CBD dosage one is safe to consume.
Determine the Right CBD Dosage for You
Note that most CBD products are not recommended to be used by individuals without consultation or prescription from any health care provider. Apart from one CBD product most other products are illegal to be sold or used without a proper prescription. Also, it is illegal to sell CBD as a food supplement or any dietary supplement.
Therefore it is always recommended to consult your doctor before taking CBD.
CBD is expressed in mg or milligrams. The right CBD Dosage mainly depends on the symptoms and conditions of the disease & the patient’s endocannabinoid system (associated with behaviors, motor control, emotions homeostasis, and nervous system).
The right dosage of CBD is an area of active research and high-end studies are required to find out which appropriate dosage, efficiency & safety guidelines.
How to Calculate Your Dose
The dosage for CBD is expressed as per each unit, or serving. CBD softgels, capsules, or gummies that one consumes typically have between 10 to 50 milligrams (mg) of CBD in one piece, on average – depending on the brand.
A great CBD dosage recommendation is using .25mg of CBD per pound of bodyweight.
All these daily easy-going products do not have a high dosage in each unit, so one might have to take two soft gel capsules at a time to consume the required dosage.
When it comes to oils one can begin with a small amount since oils are more concentrated. But calculating the right dosage of CBD oil is a bit tricky since the bottle mentions the total CBD amount and not as per drops.
Now say, for example, a 30ml bottle contains 1500 mg of CBD in it. You would need to calculate the amount of CBD in each ml. By dividing 1500 mg by 30 ml we get 50mg/ml. This means the bottle has 50 mg of CBD per ml, which is 50mg per serving.
As mentioned earlier each person should consume 0.25 mg of CBD per pound of his/her body weight. Now one can typically calculate the dosage of CBD as per body weight.

How to Use CBD Oil
Some of the most popular ways to use CBD are through oils (tinctures), sprays, gummies, inhaler vapor, edibles, CBD flower, and CBD drinks.
The CBD product mainly depends on one’s personal preference. The amount of CBD varies from product to product. For example, chewable CBD gummies and capsules typically have less amount of CBD compared to oils and liquid products.
It is always recommended to read the instructions on the back of the product and know the amount of CBD present in each serving.
As per Jordan Tishler, MD (a cannabis treatment specialist), cannabinoids have low bioavailability when compared to some other substances. According to Dr. Tishler, “when CBD is consumed through gummies or other chewable typically takes a longer time to have a proper effect on your body compared to other products.
When consumed this way, the CBD has to travel a long way to the digestive system, get broken down, and then absorbed by the cells. This just takes time.
Benefits of CBD
CBD has proved to aid with several physical and mental disorders in the last few years. The health benefits of CBD are numerous. Cannabis has been used in different holistic medicines for decades. Recently, research has begun to find the health benefits of CBD & other cannabinoids as well.
Here is the list of benefits one can achieve from the right CBD Dosage:
Reducing Depression
While depression has become one of the most common mental health problems in the last few years, certain studies and research state that cannabinoids can have influence on brain’s response to serotonin (a neurotransmitter that changes mood).
People suffering from depression often are found to have low serotonin levels. Using CBD, on the other hand, helps the human brain to use serotonin effectively.
Improving Sleep
Sleep disorders are one of the common health issues found in 5 out of 10 people. While the reasons are not quite clear, CBD can help improve sleep disorders and quality of sleep.
Reducing Anxiety
Anxiety has become one of the most common mental issues affecting over 20% of Americans every year. CBD has surprisingly proved to cure several anxiety disorders including OCD (obsessive Compulsive Disorder) & SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder).
Summary
Keep in mind that the tricky thing about nailing down the right CBD dosages comes to personal preference. What works well for some users may not work as well for others.
This is why a small trial and error period is always expected for new users of cannabidiol products, or other hemp-derived items. It is recommended to start with roughly .25mg of CBD per pound of body weight and adjust accordingly.
