CB2 receptor

The CB2 receptor is a type of cannabinoid receptor that is primarily expressed in immune cells, although it is also found in other types of cells throughout the body. It is one of two known types of cannabinoid receptors, the other being the CB1 receptor. CB2 receptors are activated by cannabinoids, which are compounds found in the cannabis plant, as well as endocannabinoids, which are naturally occurring cannabinoids produced by the body.

CB2 receptors are primarily involved in regulating immune function, inflammation, and pain perception. They are thought to play a role in a wide range of physiological processes, including the modulation of bone growth, the regulation of appetite, and the management of neurodegenerative diseases. There is also growing interest in the therapeutic potential of CB2 receptor agonists for a range of conditions, including chronic pain, inflammation, and autoimmune diseases.
