It seems only natural that Tommy Chong, of the stoner comedy duo Cheech and Chong, would have his own marijuana brand.

"I'm the most recognizable pot head, probably, in the world," Chong told CNNMoney.

Chong lends his name to Chong's Choice, a marijuana brand that's available in six states: Arizona, where medical marijuana is legal, along with California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and Nevada, where recreational marijuana is legal, too.

The head of a leading firm that connects businesses with job seekers says that employment in the legal marijuana industry is growing faster than any other field.

"You know what the fastest-growing job category in the United States is?" ZipRecruiter.com co-founder and CEO Ian Siegel asked. "Marijuana."

And he should know. His company calls itself the "fastest growing employment marketplace" and claims to have "helped over 1 million businesses and 100 million job seekers find their next perfect match."

"Twenty-nine states have legalized marijuana. There's 445% job growth in job listings in the category year over year," he said at a conference hosted by U.S. News & World Report on Friday.

The Great Lakes State has the second-largest medical marijuana patient base in the country, trailing only gigantic California.

A shift in Michigan's medical marijuana market is no small event.

Major legal weed markets have opened up on the West Coast — California, Washington, Oregon, Nevada and Alaska — and New England, with Maine, Massachusetts and Washington D.C.

But the Midwest remains largely untapped. Michigan's new licensing and seed-to-sale tracking system for medical marijuana opened for applications in December, and observers expect to see a ballot question on recreational marijuana in Michigan in November.

The legal cannabis industry is posting some eye-popping job-growth numbers.

The total number of job postings for the cannabis industry increased by 445% in 2017, as a host of states — including Nevada and Massachusetts — legalized the plant for adult consumption.

That's up from just 18% growth in 2016, according to a recent study from ZipRecruiter, a job-search website.

Nine states and Washington D.C. have legalized cannabis, though it's considered an illegal, Schedule I drug at the federal level.

More than 5,000 people packed the Denver Mart this weekend for the Indo Expo's fifth cannabis trade show.

The show has more than doubled in size since it first came to Denver. "It used to be a hometown show and now we’re seeing people from all over the world," Indo Expo creator Chris Olson said.

Black Dog LED lights, a Colorado-based company, has been shining its lights at the expo since it started. It's also seen business expand exponentially.
